What We’ve Been Up To: Dishing & Dining, Spoofing the SAT, School Fundraising & More

We’ve been diving into more mainstream web ventures this year, covering a wide spectrum of markets and audiences. In the spring, we launched DishandDine with our friends and partners at Stonehouse Productions. DishandDine is an online foodie community site with recipes, reviews, tips, and user generated videos, as well as professionally produced branded web programming created by veteran TV producers. We’ve been lucky to feature exclusive video content from celebrities like Rachael Ray and Jimmy Fallon, but we’ve been incredibly excited about sharing family favorite recipes, videos, and reviews from as-yet-unknown everyday gourmands. Oh, and we have an addictive Flash-based game called the DishandDine Daily Special that serves up a different 4-course meal of foodie trivia every day. Check it out!

Then in the fall, just as high school juniors and seniors across the nation started trudging back to school and the dreaded college applications process, we launched BSATWorld.com with Marc Segan and John Forster, authors of the uproariously and irreverently hilarious parody SAT test prep guide, The BSAT Official Study Guide (available  at both Amazon and Barnes & Noble), which has been getting rave reviews.  BSATWorld.com features interactive SAT-style questions of the day (spoofed from the College Board site) with real-time response statistics, user-generated parody SAT questions, college app essays, and videos, and Facebook Connect integration to make it all easier for all those high-school and college-age Facebook addicts out there.

We’ve also been getting our feet wet in the indie film scene – we recently debuted a promotional website for Archangel, a 3D short film written and produced by James Lawler Productions. The full short will be available soon, at which point you will be able to download it from the site and donate toward funding the full-feature production (donors get “Executive Producer” credits!). We have a few more movie sites set to debut soon, so check back with us for updates.

Next up, we recently launched the homepage for ClassClick, an exciting new online school fundraising platform that we are developing in partnership with Greater Good Ventures, whose executives are Time Inc. veterans in media, marketing, and publishing. The full-scale fundraising and e-commerce platform will be available for schools to start signing up later this month.

As we near the new year, that’s not all! In addition to the above, we’re currently working on more ventures that are set to launch early next year – especially amateur photographers and NYC dessert lovers, stay tuned!
